New Permissions Editing System

The permissions system in iSymphony 3.0 is powerful and flexible, but can be time-consuming to set up for a large system with a lot of permissions. iSymphony 3.1 introduces an all-new permissions system including a dedicated permissions editing page in the administration. This comes with some new features, including better support for batch editing, the concept of owned extensions, and more! See the upgrade notes for more details on the changes.

New Queue Widget

We've combined the three Queue widgets into one single, more flexible widget. This allows you to view more information about your queues on the screen, and quickly switch between the active queue that's being monitored. Don't like the new layout? Add multiple to your screen and link them together, then hide the sections you don't want to see. See the documentation for more details on the new widget.

XMPP Integration Support

We're bringing back support for powering the chat system in iSymphony with an external XMPP server, so your iSymphony users can talk to other chat users. This was a feature in iSymphony 2.X, and we're getting it back into version 3 now.

Performance Improvements

We spent a lot of time tracking down bottlenecks in iSymphony's performance on large systems, and have reduced or eliminated a number of issues. We resolved a number of problems where the amount of time required to complete an action grew exponentially, helping tremendously on systems with more than a few users. On average, our mid-sized customers will see a 50-80% reduction in startup times and login times. See the changelog for more details about the specific situations we have improved.
